Time to get on your Quidditch robes and prove you have what it takes to be on the UQ team! Come along to Acacia Park (map here) to show off your skills before we have our first competitive games.
Bring your own broom if you have one, if not you can use the school brooms!

Come join us at the Mana Bar in the valley! What is the Mana Bar, I hear you ask? Why it’s a club, with video games! And in our case, Harry Potter video games! Ever wondered if you could beat the basilisk, steal an egg from underneath a hungarian horntail and defeat You-Know-Who, all with a drink in one hand and surrounded by HP fans? Now’s you chance to try! We’ve got Lego Harry Potter, Quidditch World Cup and much more on a variety of consoles all for your gaming pleasure.
Just $15 (non-members $20) will get you entry and your first drink so you’re well on your way to that Felix Felicis feel. Get in fast cause there are only 60 tickets and there going to sell faster than a Firebolt!

HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE 2ND UQ HARRY POTTER ALLIANCE TRIVIA NIGHT.
Get your quills together and join us for a fun night of Harry Potter trivia down at the Red Room (or Three Broomsticks). Teams or individuals are all welcome and Butterbeer (jugs and shots) will be available for your drinking pleasure.
Unfortunately, this is an 18+ event. I apologise to any underage wizards who are unable to drink or apparate yet. Dressing up is encouraged and hope to see you all there!

PIZZA AND POTTER! Calling all fans to our first event.
Where: At UQ somewhere, exact place TBA
When: 6pm, 29th of February.
What: Pizza and a movie! (A HP one, which one is TBA as well)
Cost: Gold coin donation for members, $5 membership plus gold coin for non-members. (To help us pay for the excessive quantities of Pizza we will be consuming)

If you’re free this Wednesday (29th) you can buy membership at our movie night (6pm, Forgan Smith, Room E109). We’re also looking at having a stall around uni one day in the next few weeks. If that fails, basically if you come to any of our events you can buy membership there. We’ll keep the blog updated! :)
The UQ Harry Potter Alliance is in want of a SENIOR UNDERSECRETARY TO THE MINISTER (aka secretary, we promise we won’t say you look like a toad) and a ORDER OF THE PHOENIX CO-LEADER (aka, Socials!)
Secretary’s role will be: Chief organiser. You’d need to help us all keep in contact and up-to-date, and to incessantly email those who don’t. You’ll also need to help us keep track of our members and take minutes at meetings.
Socials: Get your social butterfly on! Your role will be to help create and shape the events which HPA puts on. Aside from ideas though, this also involves translating them into reality – calling venues, booking things and figure out what dates work best. Why do you think you’d be good in this position/What experience do you have?
We’re having a Quidditch ‘Come And Try’ event on the Saturday the 3rd of March from 2pm until 4pm at Acacia Park, Carmody Road. All are welcome! Here’s a short abridging of James’ words on the event page.
This session will be a come-and-try day, with some friendly games being played for those keen to get straight into the action. It is greatly preferred if you bring your own broom (commonly abbreviated to BYOB). It is clear to those of us who study broomstick-law that the broom chooses the rider, so we prefer not to allocate brooms to people. Of course, if you have no way of accessing a broom, some spares will be available on the day. Feel free to send any questions to the ask box!
